The life story of an American novelist Pearl S. Buck ready
made into a movie. The director and writer Roxanne Messina Captor will soon be
producing a movie called Pearl of the author of the novel The Good Earth and
Imperial Woman (Empress) is. Oscar-winning French actress, Juliette Binoche
(The English Patient, Godzilla) had been designated as an actor Buck, backed by
Chinese star Wang Leehom (Lust Caution, Blackhat) and Jing Tian (Special ID,
Police Story 2013).
Variety first reported about Pearl's film project. The film
will be produced independently, in collaboration with film company China Film
Group is financing its production. Filming is scheduled to begin in 2016 in
China and the Czech Republic. Oscar-winning cinematographer, Vilmos Zsigmond
(Close Encounter of the Third Kind, The Black Dahlia) have also been designated
as a stylist this movie camera.
"I have tried to write this movie for a long time,
thanks to read The Good Earth since the age of eight years. The life of Buck
amaze me because he is a remarkable figure and has achieved many things.
Support Juliette, Leehom, Danjing, along with China Film Group, CFCC , and the
CAA is the necessary impetus for this movie, "said Captor in a statement.
Buck figure is known as one of the famous novelist thanks to
his work, which is largely set in the country of China early 20th century. His
novel The Good Earth became a best seller in the US in 1930, also won the
prestigious Pulitzer Prize in 1932. Buck later won the Nobel literature prize
in 1938, thanks to a rich depiction of life under Chinese society, as well as
through works biography. Buck himself was born in 1892 in the US missionary
family. He was brought to the province Huaian and Zhenjiang in China, and spent
a period of growth there. That is what pushed him make so many papers related
to China.
Pearl mentioned films will take Buck's life story, from a
missionary to the novelist, who was doing in order to support her daughter with
disabilities. Events of Nanking in 1927, which triggered the civil war for 10
years in China, will be important background film. Buck's own family managed to
flee with the help of a local caregiver. Although it has been left China in
1934 and never looked back, Buck then generates tens of novel, until the end of
1973.
